Description
AAKG L-Arginine for Dogs and Cats – 100 g
Arginine is an amino acid in the highly bioavailable form of alpha-ketoglutarate L-arginine (a salt of alpha-ketoglutaric acid and arginine). It is essential for the proper function of the cardiovascular, immune, muscular, and digestive systems, and plays a significant role in reproduction.
Arginine is involved in protein synthesis, urea, creatine, nitric oxide (NO), glutamine, and pyrimidine production. Its supplementation can be helpful in liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and diabetes. For cats, arginine is an essential amino acid; a deficiency can cause serious health consequences or even death within a few days.
Alpha-ketoglutaric acid participates in the Krebs cycle and serves as a precursor for L-glutamine production. Arginine is a protein amino acid involved in several metabolic processes, including the synthesis of proteins, creatine, and nitric oxide.
Arginine (C6H14N4O2) is the strongest basic amino acid, with a pH ranging from 10.56 to 12.5. Lyophilized arginine appears as odorless white crystals soluble in water. About 40% of dietary arginine is degraded during absorption in the small intestine mucosa, and the remaining portion is delivered to the liver.
